Kidnapped, a classic adventure tale written by Robert Louis Stevenson, was first published in the weekly issue of Young Folks Paper For Old and Young Boys and Girls in 1886 as is shown in the first picture. In the same boy's magazine Stevenson's Treasure Island had been already serialized in 1882.
Die klassische Abenteuergeschichte Kidnapped, verfasst von Robert Louis Stevenson, erschien zuerst in einer wöchentlichen Ausgabe von Young Folks Paper For Old and Young Boys and Girls im Jahre 1886, wie man anhand des unten abgebildeten Titelblatts sieht. Im gleichen Magazin wurde schon Die Schatzinsel von Stevenson als Serie veröffentlicht.

The long subtitle of the title page is more a less a short summary of the adventure tale: Being memoirs of the adventures of David Balfour in the year 1751; how he was kidnapped and cast away; his suffering in a desert isle; his journey in the wild Highlands; his acquaintance with Alan Breck Stewart and other notorious Highland Jacobites; with all that he suffered at the hands of his Uncle Ebenezer Balfour of Shaws, falsely so-called; written by himself and now set forth by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Der lange Untertitel auf der Titelseite liest sich fast wie eine Zusammenfassung der Abenteuererzählung: Die Erinnerung des David Balfour an seine Abenteuer im Jahre 1751. Wie er verschleppt wurde und Schiffbruch erlitt; seine Drangsal auf einer öden Insel; seine Reise durch das wilde Hochland; seine Bekanntschaft mit Alan Breck Stewart und anderen berüchtigten Hochland-Jakobiten; samt allem was er unter den Händen seines Onkels, des fälschlich sogenannten Ebenezer Balfour of Shaws zu leiden hatte: Von ihm selbst verfasst und nun zum Druck befördert von Robert Louis Stevenson.
Finally we show the fine painting of Wyeth which was used for the book cover. Zum Schluss zeigen wir noch das schöne Bild von Wyeth, das für den Buchdeckel gebraucht wurde.
