Plecotus Auritus - My new stamp for the Post of Switzerland

A popular scientific presentation of the brown long-eared bat.
The search for photographic references was extremely difficult and very
time-consuming. A fragile creatures of the night and very delicate.
As a trained scientific illustrator my skill is used in applications where the knowledge of an ordinary illustrator has its limitations. Even experts find it difficult to different species and subspecies to be distinguished.
The brown long-eared bats are similar devilishly cute goblins!
I think that my bat is one of the biggest stamps
which the Swiss Post has ever brought to market.
Almost 4 inches "wingspan" :-)!

Alan Turing, born hundred years ago.

Today, a hundred years ago, Alan Turing was born.
And Google remembers today on their home page
to him.

Without it the Second World War would have much longer

continued! My picture of Alan Turing was published in the

magazine "Folio" of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, based on a

black and white photo. (Al Copyrights by me.)

in some part for imitate metal ore
similar things. And for the waves and the gowne too!
And a trick is to soften unsharp some things :)

Wenn man bedenkt dass ArtRage anfänglich

 als digitales Zeichen-Programm

für Kinder in die Welt gesetzt wurde. Und jetzt das!

Ich wollte einfach testen ob man mit diesem

famosen und auch kostengünstigen Programm eine

schwarz-weiss Arbeit im Ink-Stiel realisieren kann, mehr nicht ;).


Of course there are correct instructions like one
should sit on a witch's broom. And practise makes the 
witch's flight. Christoph Roos criticised that my witch
not use her broom correctly!

Night Butterfly / Nachtfalter

A predrawing for a ArtRage painting. I wanted

to finsih it in my holidays on Hispaniola but I

noticed that the screen of my Macbook was not suited

for a fine work like this. So I have change to a other

work that I have in progress with the title "Helena"

that is more intensive in the colours than "Night Butterfly".

On the photo you see my "open-air-studio" in Santo Domingo

under palm fields before our house. Hope I can finish "Helena"

soon but now I have yet commercial jobs upcoming....

The drawing "Night Butterfly"was done with brown sepia

ball point (the same like I have show in one of my last posts...)

Eine Vorzeichnung in sepiabraunem Kugelschreiber (siehe meine

letzten Posts...) für ein ArtRage-Gemälde namens "Nachtfalter".

Eigentlich wollte ich dieses Gemälde in meinen Ferien auf Hispaniola

fertig stellen doch ich merkte gleich dass der Bildschirm meines

Macbooks zu wenig geeignet war für feintonige Umsetzungen.

Und so habe ich ein anderes farbintensiveres Gemälde angegangen

mit dem Titel "Helena", eine Figur aus der helenistischen Mythologie.

Anbei seht Ihr eine Photo meines Freiluft-Studios unter Palmenfächern

vor unserem Hauseingang in Santo Domingo. Das war auch der

ruhigste Ort und es wehte immer ein kühlendes Lüftchen.

Ich hoffe "Helena" bald zeigen zu können aber im Augenblick

habe ich noch mit kommerziellen Arbeiten zu tun....

tropical climate in Zürich !
