Violet Dale: Illustrations for Vathek by William Beckford

There isn't any information on Violet Dale to find. May be it is Florence Violet Dale, born 1886 in Westminster, London.
She illustrated also the book "Princess Pirlipatine and the nutcracker" by Alexandre Dumas. Translated, mutilated, and terminated by O. Eliphaz Keat (a translation of Dumas' version of the story of ETA Hoffmann). That book contains eight illustrations in colour by Violet Dale and was also published by Philip Allan in London, 1918.

Vathek is an Oriental Fantasy that utilizes the settings made popular by the Arabian Nights and infuses them with the atmosphere of Gothic Fantasy, then gaining in popularity. It tells of an 8th century caliph who renounces Islam and partakes of vile and depraved practises in order to obtain supernatural talents. After years of corruption, during which he constructs a mighty pleasure tower, he descends into hell to inherit a kingdom. (The Encyclopedia of Fantasy, Clute & Grant).
