Sergio Toppi: Der Mann vom Nil (L'Uomo del Nilo) 1.Teil

Sergio Toppi (1932 - 2012)  war ein italienischer Illustrator und Comiczeichner. Seine ersten Comics zeichnete er für Il Corriere dei Piccoli 1966. Mehrere historische und Kriegsgeschichten folgten in der Serie Grandi Avventure di Pace e di Guerra in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Schriftsteller Milo Milani.

Von 1976 schuf Toppi Comics für die Sammlung 'Un Uomo, un'Avventura' die von Edizioni Cepim publiziert wurde. Es sei hier erwähnt: 'L'Uomo del Nilo', 'L'Uomo del Messico' and 'L'Uomo delle Paludi'. Für bekannte Comic Magazine wie Linus, Alter, Corto Maltese und Sgt. Kirk lieferte er kurze Comic Geschichten. Eines seiner bemerkenswertesten Werke ist 'Sharaz'de' eine Art Comicversion von Tausend und einer Nacht. 
Dass die Geschichte Ein Mann vom Nil auf historischen Tatsachen, nämlich auf dem Mahdi-Aufstand im Sudan von 1883 bis 1885 fusst, sei hier kurz erwähnt. Und der Ruf  "Gihad" weist heute eine brennende Aktualität auf.
Sergio Toppi (1932 - 2012) was a  Milanese comic artist and illustrator.  He made his first comics for Il Corriere dei Piccoli from 1966. Several historical and war stories followed in the series 'Grandi Avventure di Pace e di Guerra', in cooperation with the writer Milo Milani.

Also from 1976, he drew several installments collection 'Un Uomo, un'Avventura' by Edizioni Cepim, namely 'L'Uomo del Nilo', 'L'Uomo del Messico' and 'L'Uomo delle Paludi'. In addition, he provided art for dozens of short stories for the magazines Linus, Alter, Corto Maltese, and Sgt. Kirk.

One of Toppi's most remarkable comics is 'Sharaz'de', his comics version of the Arabian Nights.
The comic story L'Uomo del Nilo (The Man from the Nile) relies upon historical facts, namely the revolt of  the Mahdi in Sudan (1883 -1885) and at present the cry "Jihad" has a burning actuality.
