The book was written and illustrated by W. Heath Robinson and published in 1912.

Bill the Minder represents one of the first books where Robinson began to explore the possibilities of  illustration and design  of eccentric machines. This story follows the adventures of the young Bill and his cousins, Boadicea and Chad. In the process of their adventures they meet many strange people and help solve their unique problems with the use of fantastic machines devised by Bill.
